It’s been a creepy crawly time with the children learning about insects that fly and insects that crawl in our Bug theme. We searched our allotment to find them and got very excited about spotting worms and ladybirds, snails, ants and bees. We’re not sure what the worms thought about being squeezed lovingly in little hands though!
We had a messy but fun time making our own centipedes by doing feet painting. The children enthusiastically queued to have their turn to put their feet in paint and walk on long strips of paper.
Much to the children's delight we had a surprise visit by a very cute and furry six-week-old kitten called Oscar. He ran around the pre-school and was very patient, allowing all the children to have a cuddle and stroke.

In the kitchen we have been baking and making some lovely sweet and savoury treats. Amongst which were bread rolls, cheese straws and honey biscuits. We are also pleased that our lovingly planted seeds down at the allotment, have all become plants and that we are able to pick and eat the fresh produce ourselves!

In the last few weeks before the summer holidays, the children have been busy practicing for their Sports Day, so you can see them running around the green, jumping hurdles, and bouncing in sacks. We have had also been using our inflatable sports centre so our budding sport stars can practice their football skills and tennis skills ready for Wimbledon.

As our thoughts turn to sunshine and beach holidays during our Seaside theme, the children are keen to be making and trying homemade fish and chips and hot dogs. We are also making flapping fish for fish racing so will be getting mucky with paper, glue, scissors and sparkly bits.

We recently asked all Woodcote pre-school supported to help us raise funds through joining easyfundraising.org.uk and using http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/woodcotepresch where a donation for everything you by online can automatically be made to us. Now we’d like to tell you about http://woodcotepresch.easysearch.org.uk , which combines the results of several search engines such as Yahoo, Bing and Ask to ensure you can always find what you’re looking for. But the fantastic thing is that every time you search, half a penny is raised for Woodcote Pre-School. Search just 15 times a day and you can raise around £25 a year for us. So the next time you need to find something online, please use http://woodcotepresch.easysearch.org.uk and raise money for us with every search you make.

A big thank you to the parents, staff and children for coping so well during the refurbishment of some of areas in the village hall and are looking forward to using the clean, bright and cheerful space in the new school year.

As the term draws to an end, we would like to bid a fond farewell to Corbin, Lucas, William, Lily, Erin, Ollie, Matthew, Tara, Rachel and Leon who are leaving us to start Primary school in September. We will miss you!
