Term 2 – November-December 2020

We have had a very exciting sparkly and fun term incorporating Halloween, Bonfire, Diwali, Remembrance Day & Christmas!  We began with our Halloween Parade where all the children and staff came dressed in their outfits and sang all the songs they’d been learning this term.  We then moved on to Bonfire Night and Diwali where we learned all about Guy Fawkes and the story of Sita & Rama.  We made lots of sparkly pictures, rockets, Diya lamps and sampled some Indian food and enjoyed some dancing to Indian music with the ribbons.  For Remembrance Day the children made a poppy wreath and individual poppies.

There have been lots of maths activities from counting pom-poms using tweezers, compare bears, positioning and using the soft play to make various arrangements.

Freddie the Elf sent the children a letter informing them he had been travelling around the world and would be back in time for December after he had been quarantined for 2 weeks.  He has visited various different countries and sent us postcards and photos.  The children were very excited to see on our world map where he had been and what he had been up to!  When he reappeared in Pre-School the children were excited everyday to find out where he was and what he had been up to every day.

The children have enjoyed going to space in the interactive cube which changed frequently from a spaceship to a bus, a train and Santa’s Sleigh.  The have enjoyed various different role-playing from an Indian Restaurant to Santa’s Workshop, a bus station, bakery, doctors surgery, vets, cafe, a house and whatever they chose to do.

They decorated the Christmas Tree, made lots of decorations, clay shapes, painting, baking, cards and just had fun!  We all sat and ate our traditional Christmas Lunch and had a party on the last day of term where we received a socially distanced visit from Santa & Freddie the Elf!

Our nativity this year was The Christmas Star and all the children were definitely stars!  It went really well and the children remembered all the songs and were fantastic.  The added bonus being that the parents were able to come and watch with social distancing measures put in place.

We would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!!
