At Woodcote Pre-School we have been busy learning about autumn.

The children have been on a nature walk around the village green, where they have collected a selection of fallen leaves. When they got back to pre-school they looked at the different shapes and colour of the leaves and made pictures out of them. The children have enjoyed learning about animals that hibernate for the winter, making dark dens to see what it is like to be these animals, snuggled up in their dens for the winter. The children painted their favourite animals. Had fun making hedgehog rolls using raisins and sunflower seeds to decorate them. They have practiced their counting skills playing a game of put the spikes on the hedgehog.

To tie in with our topic of hibernation and nocturnal animals we had a visit from Zoolab. The children enjoyed meeting all the animals getting to be brave holding and stroking them, unlike the staff. Favourites were the giant snails, toad and snake.

We celebrated Harvest festival with our friends from the cabin Pre-School, at St Leonard’s church. The children learnt about the meaning of harvest and of giving. They enjoyed taking all their gifts up to the alter, and singing the harvest songs they had learnt, we had some excellent singing with great action to go with the singing.  A big Thank you to Revd. Linda for a lovely service and inviting us all.

We ended our busy term with our Halloween parade, the children all looked fantastic in their Halloween costumes. They showed of their singing skills to their parents, with their favourite Halloween songs and rhymes they have been learning  this term. We have some budding Ex factor stars of the future.
