We started our new term with lots of sparkle as we celebrated Diwali and bonfire night.

The children had loads of fun with glitter making fireworks from kitchen roll tubes and covering their handmade Diwali lamps. We had a serious side to bonfire night, as the children learnt about being safe. They enjoyed re-enacting being firemen dressing up in costumes and putting out fires as well as being doctors rushing to help their patients.

The children have been busy writing their letters to Santa; we have some long lists so let’s keep our fingers crossed. The children excitedly went to the post office to post their letters and were delighted to get replies from Santa himself. We have been learning about giving and receiving of presents and the children have been very productive making cards and edible treats for their parents. (Which I know the parents can’t wait to try)

At Pre-school we have been learning about the Christmas story and nativity through practicing our Christmas Production, The Shinning signing star, which tells the story of Christmas through the eyes of the star and animals. To support the story and songs the children have been learning simple signing to go along with their singing.

To end our Christmas term we had a big party with Jester Giggles and a surprise visit from Father Christmas. The children have been learning party games as part of their PE lessons and have had great fun putting them into action with musical chairs being a favourite followed by musical statues and Simon said. After all the physical activity they sat down to their Christmas feast.

Wishing you all a Merry Xmas and a prosperous New Year
