With the skies turning bluer and the temperatures slowly rising, we have started thinking about spring and Easter. You may see the children down at our pre-school allotment (which has undergone a fabulous make over thanks to the Allotment Committee and volunteers) and out and about exploring the village looking for shapes, going on insect hunts and searching for the first signs of spring.
We have also been enjoying songs and rhymes to do with food and drink which serve to support learning in the areas of communication, language and literature.

The children have enjoyed having a traditional tea party with cups of tea, triangle sandwiches and homemade scones, jam and cream. They have been making cakes to support Pat-a-cake, Pat-a-cake Bakers Man, where they were thrilled to change the B for their own initials and names. Pretending to be little tea pots for I'm a Little Tea Pot has proved to be a hit and it is fun to see the little ones joining in with the actions.
As always at this time of year, there are many special days to celebrate and observe. We celebrated Shrove Tuesday with scrumptious pancakes for tea and St David's day with home-made Leek and Potato soup and by making Welsh cakes. St Patrick’s Day was all about Shamrocks and rainbows.

Part of our topic work includes learning about other people, in particular, those who care for us. The children will be making special cards for a special person in their life and thinking about how people look after them.

When passing by the village hall, you may have heard a chorus of little voices practicing Easter songs for the Easter parade on the 28th March. This is such a fun event for our pre-school families and the teachers always look forward to seeing all the lovely bonnets that the children create with their parents.

Due to the success of (and the demand for) our popular Holiday club, we will be running an Easter holiday club from Monday 2nd to 5th April and Tuesday 10th to 13th April. For more information or to book your child a place, please contact us on 01491 682300 or email

Looking ahead, our fun filled Skittles Night is planned for Friday 11th May. Like every year, a tasty meal will be provided as well as a cash bar. If you are keen on entering a team (or two) make sure you save the date and get in touch so that we can sign you up!
If you are interested in starting your child at Woodcote Pre-school or for more information, please contact Liz on 01491682300 or email .  You can also find us at www.woodcotepreschool.co.uk.
