Having said our goodbyes to all our big children who have gone off to the different primary schools in the area, it is time to say a big hello to all the new children starting with us this term.

Some of our industrious and hardworking staff have been busy working in the holiday club over four weeks of the summer holiday. Providing extended hours has been successful and it has been really busy.  The Children, ranging in age from 2 and a half to 7 years old, who attended had the opportunity to participate in team games, Olympic Races, building camps, playing football, trying swing ball, lots of craft activities including making masks and butterflies, and getting messy with painting & sticking. In the kitchen, we have been baking biscuits.

The start of this new school year brings with it a change to the current guidelines we follow when educating pre-school children. Staff have been preparing for the new EYFS during the break and have begun implementing it into day to day activities.
We asked our little ones to bring in photos and pamphlets of where and what they have been doing over the holidays. They have been sharing their exciting news with all their friends. It is great to be able to get a glimpse into their home lives and to share in their holiday experiences and is a valuable learning tool for them.

This term we will be learning about all the different sorts of transport. We look forward to making our own vehicles from junk modelling and to practise some basic mathematic skills by watching and making a tick chart of all the different vehicles we can see go past the village green from the fence surrounding our outdoor play area.
We are also going to be caring for our environment sorting our rubbish into the right bins, learning about who collects the rubbish and where it goes. Thinking about our local area, we will be looking at how we need to keep our environment clean with emphasis on our village green, the park and the paths we walk on, so that these spaces are safe for all to use.

Our new allotment has produced some lovely healthy vegetables which we have been harvesting. We dug up some potatoes, which we have eaten for our lunch and taken the surplus home to eat with our families. We picked our carrots, beans, courgettes and onions, which we hope to enter into the Woodcote festival. The children are also looking forward to making cakes and our famous sandwiches for the festival competitions.
