09/07/2010Let the planting begin! Well, we have serious business of planting seeds has begun. We were given some seed potatoes from a very generous benefactor, so they were immediately popped into the ground and watered, until they thought it could rain no more. After the potatoes came leeks and onions, so if nothing else, we’ll be able to make a smashing leek and potato soup. Avid readers of this column will be aware of our mixed results when attempting to grow carrots. Well there are more in this year; we shall keep you posted
on progress (or otherwise). Back at the ranch we have been making bread rolls, delicious with poppy seeds sprinkled on top, and eaten while still warm. Octopus biscuits were a big hit; some of them even managed to have their Smarties’ eyes put in place, before they were popped into little mouths. Over on the craft table we painted butterflies, and made sparkly glittery snakes.
